Second win in four days
Monday, March 29th, 2010Toolstation League premier division: Wellington 2, Sherborne Town 0.
WELLINGTON picked up their second important home win in four days with a battling display against Sherborne Town at the Playing Field on Saturday.
The home side went ahead after 12 minutes after a shot from Shane Kingston ended up in the net courtesy of a wicked deflection.
Sherborne pressed for an equaliser but the closest they came was a shot by Steve Burton which rebounded off the crossbar.
Wellington found themselves under the cosh in the second half but defended heroically.
And they sealed the points with a magnificent second goal in the dying minutes.
Kingston found Levi Marlow out on the right and the sub’s low cross saw Scott Holland produce a sublime backheel to guide the ball home.
On Good Friday, Wellington travel to Ilfracombe, they are without a game next Saturday and then entertain Willand Rovers on Easter Monday (3pm).
