Another defeat

Saturday, December 17th, 2005

WELLINGTON went down to their second successive defeat as they lost 3-1 at home to Cadbury Heath.

The Wellington goal was scored by Nick Woon, who has turned down a move to Chard Town.

On a brighter note, the promotion chasing reserves won 3-0 at Halwell with goals from Terry Coppin (two) and Greg Hammond.

Toolstation League division one: Bradford Town 6, Wellington 1

IAN Jackson will certainly never forget his first game in sole charge of Wellington … for all the wrong reasons.

Jackson, who has taken over the reins after co-manager Paul West’s decision to move to Taunton Town, could only stand and watch while his side let him down with some simply woeful defending.

Wellington’s inability to defend set pieces cost them dearly as they conceded three goals each side of the break for their heaviest defeat of the season.

On a brighter note, the reserves recorded a 2-1 home win over Bickleigh in the Devon and Exeter League’s Senior One.

WELLINGTON continued their fine run of league form with a 3-2 home win over Biddestone on Saturday, December 3rd.

The scorers were Shane Gage, Alexis Piper and Simon Elsley with the visitors scoring twice in the last six minutes.

Both the reserves and third team had their games called off because of waterlogged conditions.
