Wellington 3rd XI struggled with the bat when they entertained Long Sutton 2nd XI in Division Seven South of the Somerset League last weekend as Dave Luxton with 16 was the only double figure score. Heywood with 5-20 bowled well and saw that Wellington’s third string were all out for 58 in 16.5 overs. Wellington 2nd XI tied in Division Five of the Somerset League for a second time in a week as they chased Taunton Deane 3rd XI’s massive first innings total all the way at Pitminster last weekend. Deane opted to bat on winning the toss and saw that they amassed all but one run short of 249 as Parsons with 127, Stephenson with 58 and Axon with 44no all had fun with the bat in the hot, clear conditions. Wellington 150 North Petherton 152-4

Wellington closed the first half of their season in the West of England Premier League’s Somerset Division with a six wicket home defeat against an improving North Petherton side. Choosing to bat first in fine weather and hot temperatures saw Tom Chambers and Neil Hendy put on 51 opening wicket runs with Chambers hitting 19 and Hendy 27 before both were out on this score.
