Wellington Cricket Club will play in the Best Western Shrubbery Hotel Somerset League, the Somerset County Sports Sunday League, the Baker Cup set of competitions, the Somerset Cricket Board Intermediate and Minor KO Cup competitions, the Somerset Cricket Board Indoor League and the Full Stop Fire and Security Taunton and District Youth League in 2018 as well as playing non-league matches.
2017 saw the 1st XI lose its West of England Premier League status after five seasons and for 2018 it will compete in the Somerset League’s Premier Division.

After four seasons in charge of the side Alex Sparks decided to stand down at the end of the 2017 season; Alex is succeeded in the role by Arron Campbell with Luke Desave continuing as Vice-Captain.

The 2nd XI will play in Division Four of the Somerset League once more having finished third in 2017. Rob Moysey will captain the side once more with Ryan Adams taking over as his deputy.

The 3rd XI will play in Division Seven South of the Somerset League once more having finished fourth in 2017. Des Campbell and Richard Henwood continue as Captain and Vice-Captain respectively.

The Sunday XI ended 2017 in third place in Division A of the Taunton and District Sunday League and played a few non-league matches too – for 2018 Macaulay Campbell becomes the Team Captain with Oli Beale as Vice-Captain and their schedule is the same

The Midweek XI will, again, play a mix of 20/20 evening fixtures with local sides and the odd longer game with Jack Beal continuing as Team Captain for a third season and Oli Beale as Vice-Captain of this team as well as the Sunday XI.

Tony Hutchings has decided to step down as Junior Section Secretary and the Section’s structure for 2018 is to be reviewed; a statement as to its Strategy and Organisational Structure will be made in due course…
