Wellington Cricket Club will play in the Wadworth 6X West of England Premier League, the Best Western Shrubbery Hotel Somerset League, the Somerset County Sports Sunday League, the NatWest National Club T20 competition, the Baker Cupset of competitions, the Somerset Cricket Board Major KO Cup competition, the Somerset Cricket Board Indoor League, the ECB Under 19s T20 Blast competition and the Full Stop. Fire and Security Taunton and District Youth League in 2017 as well as playing non-league matches.
2016’s stated aim ofthe 1st XI of retaining WEPL membership against a background of restructuring having been implemented was achieved and will see the side continuing to play at its highest ever level of league cricket.
Alex Sparks and Luke Desave continue to run the side.
The 2nd XI will play in Division Four of the Somerset League following promotion.
Rob Moysey will captain the side once more with Ben Evett taking over as his deputy.
The 3rd XI will play in Division Seven South of the Somerset League, following 2016’s second promotion for the Club.
Des Campbell and Richard Henwood continue as Captain and Vice-Captain respectively.
The Sunday XI regained their League’s title in 2016and will be playing a number of non-league matches too – for 2017Arron Campbell retains theTeam Captaincy with Jack Beal continuing as Vice-Captain.
The Midweek XI will, again, play a mix of 20/20 evening fixtures with local sides and will host sides on tour in the area with Jack Beal as Team Captain and Macaulay Campbell as Vice-Captain again.
In the Junior Section management team Tony Hutchingstakes over as Junior Section Secretary as well as retaining management of the Under 13s team.
Mark Saltercontinues to oversee the Under 11s team.
An Under 15s team is been conceptualized at this time.
Des Campbell will run the team at the Under 19s level once more.
