Fantasy Cricket 2017 – Week Sixteen (by Ian Hewson)

A poor week for Fantasy cricket, hampered severely by player unavailability, means not much has changed in the table. Lewis Sparks stays on top but he’s just one point ahead of Alex Sparks, while Aks Latifi is following up in third at just one point after that. Lewis also remains top of the Manager of the Month. At the bottom, Mark Salter remains off the bottom but he has Luke Desave in hot pursuit. Team name Manager Overall Score Monthly

Lympsham and Belvedere 222-5 Wellington 2nd XI 27

Wellington 2nd XI equalled their lowest ever team score last weekend in Division Four of the Somerset League when they were all out for 27 against Weston Super Mare based side Lympsham and Belvedere as they put in a fine all round show and so gained promotion for next season as a consequence. Wellington’s second string equalled a 28 year old statistic that was made against Chard 3rd XI way back in 1989. On winning the toss L and B

Fantasy Cricket 2017 – Week Fifteen (by Ian Hewson)

Fantasy Cricket – Week 15 Bad losses for the 1s and 2s and a victory for the 3s – however, this was because the opposition pulled out in fear of DD’s floaters, so no fantasy team points were scored. A Sparks still leads the table but this time it is Lewis, rather than Alex, as he takes a slender two point lead. Luke Desave is still glued to the rear but coming up behind Mark Salter, which I’m sure is

Wembdon 2nd XI 271-6 Wellington 2nd XI 82

Wellington 2nd XI travelled to Wembdon’s superb new set up last weekend in Division Four of the Somerset League and found the home club’s 2nd XI to be a more robust proposition than was the case when they had met at Wellington in June and fell to a 189 run defeat on a what was a hard day’s cricket. Wembdon chose to bat first and had lost their openers for just twelve runs as Jake Nichol and Macaulay Campbell took

Fantasy Cricket 2017 – Week Fourteen (by Ian Hewson)

An excellent win for the 2s this week while the 1s and 3s suffered hard fought losses. The fight for Fantasy Manager of the Year is hotting up, with Aks Latifi just 4 points behind Alex Sparks, while Lewis Sparks only needs a good week to take the lead back – plus he’s already leading Manager of the Month. Trull 173 Wellington 2nd XI 174-4

Wellington 2nd XI scored a fine win at home to Somerset League Division Four leaders and champions elect Trull last weekend to maintain their hopes of making the runners up spot and with the side currently in that place – Lympsham and Belvedere – still to come to Courtland Road there is still much to play for as the Red and Blacks second string close out their 2017 season. A good toss to win was won by Rob Moysey and

Fantasy Cricket 2017 – Week Thirteen (by Ian Hewson)

Not a high scoring week as the rain curtailed all games to only allow half games for each side – a bowling effort for the 1s and 2s, while the 3s had a bat. Alex Sparks keeps top spot and takes back Manager of the Month, with Aks Latifi keeping the pace. Huntspill and District 179 Wellington 2nd XI 25-0

Wellington 2nd XI are in third place again this week in Division Four of the Somerset League following this third drawn match of the season as they too saw their game, as was the case with their 1st and 3rd XI colleagues, washed away after the second innings of it was just underway. A handy haul of points ahead of visits from the top two sides – Trull and Lympsham and Belvedere – in the next two home games –
