Somerset League AGM 2017

The main outcome of the League’s AGM for 2017 as was held on the evening of Monday 11th December was that both propositions for ‘classic’ Overseas Players to be allowed in the SCL in 2018 were defeated; the opening proposal was for OS players (not the OP2 variety that are still allowed…) to be permitted to play at ALL levels and this was comfortably defeated. A complimentary proposal to allow OS players at the top two levels only was defeated by

Fantasy Cricket 2017 – Week Eighteen (by Ian Hewson)

And the season has ended! A win for the 2s and losses for the 1s and 3s ends the season, though all three teams scored relatively well in terms of fantasy team points. It has been a battle of the Sparks for the last month or so and in the end, Lewis comes out victorious by just 5 points. He also claims Manager of the Month for August/September. The battle at the bottom was even closer. Luke Desave dragged himself

Castle Cary 198 Wellington 2nd XI 200-2

Wellington 2nd XI secured a very decent third place in Division Four of the Somerset League as they signed off their 2017 season with an eight wicket home win over already relegated Castle Cary last weekend. Wellington 2nd XI 190-8 Ilton 167

Wellington 2nd XI put in a much better batting effort last weekend than they had in the previous two games and came away with 33 points from their trip to Ilton in Division Four of the Somerset League to stay third. However at 35-5 the alarm bells were ringing once more and it took Mark Salter, on his way to a fine 77, and Ryan Adams to pull matters round with a sixth wicket stand of 38, but with six
