Wellington 2nd XI 190-8 Ilton 167

Wellington 2nd XI put in a much better batting effort last weekend than they had in the previous two games and came away with 33 points from their trip to Ilton in Division Four of the Somerset League to stay third.

However at 35-5 the alarm bells were ringing once more and it took Mark Salter, on his way to a fine 77, and Ryan Adams to pull matters round with a sixth wicket stand of 38, but with six wickets down the score was still in need of some repair and this came in the form of a stunning stand of 111 to take the score from 73-6 to 184-7 as Salter and skipper Rob Moysey used all their experience to give their side a good total to bowl at after tea.

Moysey made 62 with two sixes as Ilton’s early promise with the ball gave way dramatically.

Price with 3-31 in nine overs was in good form for his side.

As had been the case in the game at Wellington back in June it was evident that Price was the key player for Ilton and he made 55 this time round to be top score in an innings that always kept Wellington’s second string having to work hard for wickets.

Rob Moysey’s leg spin was pivotal in taking 4-24 in nine overs and with wickets for Charlie Burrough and Tyler Fyfe with the new ball and latterly for Ollie Beale and Ryan Adams Ilton were all out for 167 with nine overs going unused.
