Following WEPL’s Board Meeting that was held on Tuesday 4th September the 1st XI’s elevation back to the Premier League level for 2019 was confirmed and will see that we will be playing in their Somerset Division as had been the case between 2013 and 2017 inclusive. Due to the structural side of the work to set WEPL up for 2019 there will be no teams relegated into the Somerset Division from the Premier Two (Bristol and Somerset) Division, but three teams

Wellington 234 Temple Cloud 163

Wellington will be back in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier League in 2019 following confirmation of their having achieved third place in the Premier Division of the Somerset League and that WEPL, due to their structural needs for 2019, need to receive three teams from the SCL and not just the SCL champion side and runners up; in this case Taunton Deane 2nd XI, Street and the Red and Blacks will be at this level next

Wellington 182 Street 161

Wellington are well placed to achieve third place in the Premier Division of the Somerset League for 2018 having won well against potential runners up Street over the Bank Holiday Weekend and with one game left to play, away to Temple Cloud on Saturday 1st September, it would need the Bristol based side to take all of the 70 points (they play away to potential SCL Champion side Taunton Deane 2nd XI on Sunday 2nd September) on offer to them

Shapwick and Polden 2nd XI 173 Wellington 174-3

Wellington are back up to third in the Premier Division of the Somerset League following this comfortable and comprehensive win over Shapwick and Polden 2nd XI last time out as Arron Campbell’s team was in good form as a unit all afternoon. S and P won the toss and opted to bat first and were soon in a pickle against Luke Desave and Jack Beal who reduced the home side to 44-5 as they produced figures of 2-24 and 3-40

Wellington 141 Middlezoy 110

Wellington are well placed in third place in the Premier Division of the Somerset League after completing the season’s double over Middlezoy on the road last weekend and go into their enforced week off due to Ashbrittle’s withdrawal with a keen eye on what goes on next weekend. With three places in WEPL’s Somerset Division for 2019 at least up for grabs given the situation going into this game ref the dynamic higher up the pyramid a Wellington win was

Wellington 236-6dec Burnham-on-Sea 9-1

The long hot spell broke in spectacular fashion last weekend when Wellington hosted bottom side Burnham-on-Sea in the Somerset League’s Premier Division and had to settle for much the better of the draw as all games in the division suffered that fate. Going into the game, as a result of Ashbrittle CC’s withdrawal from the division and the subsequent expunging of their playing record, Wellington rose to third in the division and were back in with a shout of challenging

Taunton Deane 2nd XI 180-8 Wellington 93

When Wellington had Taunton Deane 2nd XI at 56-7 they had high hopes of despatching the second placed team in the Premier Division of the Somerset League for the same sort of score as had been the case at Wellington back in May when the same quantity was just 79, but former Wellington players Russ and Dave Jones added a fine 83 runs for the Deane’s eighth wicket and with 41 more unbroken runs coming for the ninth wicket this
