WSF Golf Society – New format for 2009

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

The Wellington Sports Federation Golf Society is to change format in 2009.  Previously, we held a Spring Meeting (for the Team Salver, WCC v WAFC v WRFC), a summer Cottage Cup Meeting (with guests permitted) and an Autumn Meeting for the Autumn Trophy.

In 2009, the Spring and Summer Meetings will combine into one, The Dolphin Inn Golf Day.  Sponsored by Dolphin landlord Nick Fenn, the day will be held at Oake Manor Golf Club and have a similar format to previous Summer Meetings – 11 holes warm-up in the morning, light-lunch and 18-holes Stableford competition in the afternoon.  The afternoon round will be played as TWO competitions; an individual stableford for the Dolphin Cup and the Team Silver Salver, where the top five stableford score will contribute to a team score in a competition between WCC, WAFC and WRFC.  Guests and non-members of the three competing clubs will play for the Dolphin Cup.

Nick will serve a buffet at the Dolphin Inn where the presentations will take place.

The date has been fixed as Friday 10th July 2009 and the cost will be approx. £40 for non Oake member.  Full list of entry fees will be posting shortly.

The Autumn meeting will be scheduled for late September.

Golf Society – 36 hole event and AGM

Tuesday, January 15th, 2008

Autumn Trophy and Spring Salver:

As we have not played the Autumn Trophy in 2007, we have one event to catch up; to achieve this, I have booked a 36 hole day at Minehead on Sunday 30th March. The morning round will be for the Autumn Trophy (individual stableford) and the afternoon round will be for the Spring Salver. First tee off is 10:00.

Cost:
The cost, including a light lunch, will be £40 – but read on now…

Subsidy:
The cost of the Minehead day will be subsidized by the sum of £15 for all members who pay their 2008 membership and this event fee, on or before the AGM.

To clarify, pay on or before AGM, Minehead day = £25, membership = £7.50 = Total of £32.50. Pay after AGM, Minehead day = £40, membership £7.50 = Total of £47.50.

Please note that only the Cottage Cup is open to non-members, this day is members only. New members will be accepted at the AGM but please ensure that they have proper qualifications via one of the three member sports clubs, Wellington AFC, Wellington RFC or Wellington CC.

We now have forums!

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

I’ve set up some forums for general chit chat on the site now. Goto www.sportinwellington.co.uk/forum to access them.

You’ll need to be registered on the site and logged in to participate.

There are forums for Cricket, Football, Golf and ‘General’ at the moment. I’ll add the other clubs if required, please contact me if you’d like any added.

There are likely to be other (bigger) changes to the site over the next few weeks. Nothing should be lost, everything that’s on the site at the moment will get carried over, but there should be some improvements, a change of look perhaps, and maybe some other new things.
