Cricket Club Retains Title

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

Twenty four local golfers from the Wellington Federation of Sports Clubs Golf Society took part in the first event of the 2006 calendar, at Dartmouth Golf and Country Club on Sunday 23rd April. Defending the title won at Teign Valley in 2005, Wellington Cricket Club easily retained the ‘Spring Salver’ team title with a score of 161 points. Captained by Chris Rudd (36 pts), the winning margin of 14 points (ahead of Wellington Rugby Club on 147) was achieved through four scores in the thirties. Wellington AFC were third on 138 points. Scoring was high on a normally difficult course, helped by some calm conditions and excellent greens. Alex Trott was the individual winner on the day with 39 stableford points.
