Wellington Cricket Club’s youth section finished their league programme with a washout as the U13 team had to call off their last fixture on Sunday when they were due to play at home to Taunton Deane. Heavy overnight rain left no other decision sensible but this made no difference to the league table as they finished an excellent 2nd behind ‘The Deane’ with only 1 defeat in their 10 league fixtures. North Petherton U13 128 – 8 Wellington U13 128 – 5

Wellington U13s ensured they finished in the top two in their division after a see saw battle at North Petherton on Sunday morning ended in a tie. Asked to bat first Wellington had the better of the early overs as Callum Hendy launched at the Petherton opening seamer by taking 14 in the 2nd over including a 6. The hosts gained control by removing fellow opener Alex Derbidge for 3 and once Hendy departed for a quick 20 the run

Taunton St Andrews U11s 193 Wellington U11s 276

U11 captain James Weymouth took a remarkable 4 wickets in 4 balls, as Wellington’s youngest youth team got their first victory of the season in emphatic style, at Taunton St Andrews on Friday evening. ‘The Saints’ batting first found all the Wellington attack in accurate form as early on Thomas Gendall took 3 wickets and then further wickets for Thomas Hopkins and Ned Hillman kept the score in check. Wellington U13s 177 – 4 Minehead U13s 87 – 6

Wellington’ss U13 team continued in fine form as they notched up a 90 run win when they travelled to Minehead on Sunday morning in the Taunton and District Youth League. Opting to bat first with a strong squad the decision looked dubious as Alex Derbidge was out leg before without troubling the scorers and then Ben White was bowled just as he reached double figures. Wellington U15s 120 – 7 Langport U15s 123 – 7

Wellington’s senior youth team were on the wrong end of a nailbiting finish when they went down by 1 wicket at Langport on Sunday morning, in the Taunton and District Youth league U15 LMS League. Batting first Wellington were soon in trouble as Fabian Reah and Ben White were back in the hutch without troubling the scorers inside the 1st over.
