WEPL Somerset Division 2019 – Confirmed Composition

Following WEPL’s Board Meeting that was held on Tuesday 4th September the 1st XI’s elevation back to the Premier League level for 2019 was confirmed and will see that we will be playing in their Somerset Division as had been the case between 2013 and 2017 inclusive. Due to the structural side of the work to set WEPL up for 2019 there will be no teams relegated into the Somerset Division from the Premier Two (Bristol and Somerset) Division, but three teams

Wellington Sunday XI 169 Wombats Sunday XI 132

A good last weekend of the season for Wellington CC ended with the Sunday XI, champions in their own right in their SCS sponsored League and with only one defeat all told, claiming a friendly double over Wombats in what was a most pleasant way to conclude play for 2018. Oli Beale took charge in Macaulay Campbell’s absence and opted to bat first on winning the toss and he saw Aks Latifi and Will Derrick add 24 first up with

Lydford 2nd XI 201-5 Wellington 3rd XI 106

Wellington 3rd XI’s season in Division Seven South of the Somerset League ended with bottom side Lydford 2nd XI completing the double, but it has been a good season for the side who ended in fifth place overall. Wellington 2nd XI 138 Peasedown St John 139-7

Wellington 2nd XI’s hard season in Division Four of the Somerset League ended with another performance of grit and determination, as has the been the case often in 2018, but, again as the case has been this campaign, they could not close out a game that was there to be won at times during the piece. Taking into account the sheer mileage involved with the visit of Bath based side Peasedown St John to Wellington and that it was their

Wellington 3rd XI 166-9 Crewkerne 2nd XI 121-7

Wellington 3rd XI are looking at securing a top half finishing position in Division Seven South of the Somerset League following this home win over Crewkerne 2nd XI on Bank Holiday Monday in what was a sixth straight win over the visitors for the Red and Blacks third string since 2016. Des Campbell opted to bat first on winning the toss and saw Nathan Roberts and Richard Henwood add 21 first up before Henwood was bowled for 10. Roberts continued

Kilmington and Stourton 194-9 Wellington 2nd XI 190-9

Wellington 2nd XI were involved in a great game in Division Four of the Somerset League last weekend when they made the long journey to Kilmington and Stourton for their penultimate game of the season and came away with a four run loss having chased hard all the way the 195 they needed to win. K and S opted to bat first on winning the toss and saw Lewis Sparks and Ian Hewson deliver an eighteen over opening burst on

Wellington 182 Street 161

Wellington are well placed to achieve third place in the Premier Division of the Somerset League for 2018 having won well against potential runners up Street over the Bank Holiday Weekend and with one game left to play, away to Temple Cloud on Saturday 1st September, it would need the Bristol based side to take all of the 70 points (they play away to potential SCL Champion side Taunton Deane 2nd XI on Sunday 2nd September) on offer to them
