Wellington 1st XI’s West of England Premier League Somerset Division match away to Staplegrove last Saturday got as far as both teams assembling, but no further as torrential showers put paid to any chance of play. Both teams take six points from the cancellation.

Wellington came within an ace of a second WEPL Somerset Division win in two last weekend in stormy weather at home to Wembdon, but for the third successive time in regular WEPL league competition the side from the Bridgwater area edged home by a slender margin of one wicket or run to go with 2019’s win at their ground by one wicket as well and their subsequent one run win at Wellington. Wellington made a fantastic start to their season in the West of England Premier League’s Somerset Division over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend with this well measured four wicket success over Bridgwater’s 2nd XI on the road as they crossed the line for 19 points with five overs left. With COVID19 protocols still needing to be observed the host Club had all that was required in place and a safe environment was on offer for the game to occur.
