Baker Cup 2011

We have been drawn at home to fellow Somerset League Division One club Watchet in the Preliminary Round of the 2011 Baker Cup on Monday 9th May. If we are successful in this match we will play a First Round fixture away to the winner of the Sampford Arundel v Taunton Deane B Preliminary Round match on Monday 23rd May; otherwise we will be at home to the loser of the previously mentioned match on Monday 6th June in the Quarter

Nat West Cricket Force Weekend – Friday, Saturday and Sunday 8th, 9th and 10th April #2

Dear WCC Colleague, The three dates above are to be used to complete the new Pavilion Clubhouse and Bar that has been one of the central items of Club activity in the past few months; there are other tasks to complete such as erection of the outdoor nets and work on the square too. We need ALL to commit to a few hours over the weekend to undertake the tasks required, so please feed through to our Facilities Project Managers

The Management Committee has come up with a list of top level tasks that need to be performed over this three day period; laying of the patio outside of the Clubhouse, erecting the outdoor nets and doing work on the square are all on the agenda. An e-mail is to be sent out asking for what time slots you can do work in; by collating this information we can work out the best way to do the work we need to.

Management Committee Meeting Minutes Archive

Through hard work by Club President and Life Member Roy Hutchings and fellow Life Member and current Management Committee member Tony Rudd I have been passed a number of archive Management Committee meeting minute books; the Club can trace activity back to 1890 as a result of this work! The archive is missing material from two periods in the 121 year span we are looking at here; the first period absent is that from when the Club reformed after WWII

The Long Hop bar, membership, and you

Everyone should be well aware of the bar we set up last summer, a good number of you have used it quite a bit already!  Over the winter/spring some improvements have been made ready for the new season and we hope to see everyone enjoying the cricket and making use of the new facilities. Change to membership fees

Membership fees have been relatively stable for a number of years. In order to fund development in the club, we are looking to change our subscription fees and make use of our Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) status to bring in more money without any additional cost to members. As a CASC, we can claim Gift Aid on donations from UK tax payers who have signed an appropriate form. As an example, this makes a £20 donation worth £25 to
