Toolstation League premier division: Wellington 5, Welton Rovers 0.
WELLINGTON swept aside Welton Rovers at the Playing Field yesterday to score five goals for the second game running.
They went ahead after only four minutes when a scramble after a corner ended with Scott Holland, back in the side after a one-match ban, heading home over a crowd of players.
The home side’s second goal was untypical of their usual flowing build-up as it was purely route one, keeper Ryan Lewis sending a long clearance which was missed by his opposite number Tristan Westlake for Darren Stone to roll the ball into an empty net.
Skipper Simon Ingram, who pulled the strings in midfield, produced a moment of magic seven minutes later, curling a free-kick against the bar for leading scorer Shane Kingston to tuck away the rebound.
Although Welton started the second half brightly and forced Lewis – playing despite a groin injury – into a couple of smart saves, it was Wellington who increased their lead on the hour.
Westlake produced two saves in quick succession but, when the ball came back out to Ingram, he scored with a well-placed drive.
And it was Wellington, who had the final say, as Stone burst away on the right and drove in a low cross, which was thumped into the net by Kingston.
Wellington: Ryan Lewis, Mark Thompson, Scott Holland, Daniel Short, Jack Adams, Jon Crowford, Simon Ingram, Andy Butler, Craig Herrod, Shane Kingston, Darren Stone. Substitutes, Luke Desave (used), Craig Mawford and Wayne Hitchcott (not used).

Toolstation League premier division: Barnstaple Town 1, Wellington 5
WELLINGTON took their tally to 18 goals in their past four games as they completed the double over bottom club Barnstaple in North Devon last night.
Barnstaple never got a look in as the visitors dominated proceedings from the outset until taking their foot off the gas with the game well won.
Strikers Darren Stone and Shane Kingston shared a three-goal haul for the second successive game, Stone turning home a Kingston cross to open the scoring after 12 minutes.
Defender Craig Mawford set up the second in first-half injury time with a blistering run, which ended with him crossing for Kingston to apply the finishing touch.
And when Stone ran on to Mark Thompson’s pass to provide a thumping finish after 59 minutes, the game was dead and buried.
Skipper Simon Ingram drove home from ten yards out to make it 4-0 after 70 minutes and sub Luke Desave added the fifth in the closing minutes with a fine drive.
There was still time for Barnstaple’s Kevin Darch to score a consolation goal and Ingram see a shot crash back off the underside of the bar.
Wellington: Ryan Lewis, Craig Mawford, Daniel Short, Martin White, Jack Adams, Jon Crowford, Simon Ingram, Mark Thompson, Craig Herrod, Darren Stone, Shane Kingston. Substitutes, Andy Butler, Matt Francis and Luke Desave (all used).

Toolstation League premier division: Brislington 2, Wellington 3
WELLINGTON extended their unbeaten run to four matches with a victory at Brislington yesterday, which was far more emphatic than the final scoreline suggests.
Leigh Robinson’s side dominated the game throughout only for Brislington to score twice in the dying minutes before the final whistle blew.
It was an excellent all-round performance by Wellington with striker partners Shane Kingston and Darren Stone seeing their tireless work rewarded by sharing the goals.
They went ahead after only five minutes as some slick approach work ended with Jon Crowford crossing for Stone to net with a well-placed header.
And the visitors should have had the game wrapped up by half-time as they created a succession of chances.
Scott Holland, who impressed in his new midfield role, had a “goal” disallowed for offside after 18 minutes while Kingston was denied by a fine save from home keeper Nick Yeo and then, when he did beat Yeo, by a
defensive clearance.
It was 41 minutes before Brislington had a shot on goal, keeper Ryan Lewis getting down well to save from Adnan Hiroli.
And it was similar story after the break as Wellington’s slick passing, movement and sheer hard work saw them in total control.
Kingston and Stone linked up to create both the goals which gave them an unassailable lead.
First, after 57 minutes, Kingston produced a clever flick over a defender to play in Stone, who immediately found his partner to guide the ball home.
And then, with eight minutes remaining, skipper Simon Ingram sent away Stone, whose low shot under Yeo saw Kingston slide in to apply the finishing touch.
Stone was injured in the process and forced to limp off.
And that signalled a remarkable end to the game as Brislington’s Kye Mountford hooked home what should have been just a consolation goal in the 88th minute.
But the home side had clearly not read the script and scored again in injury time through sub Mark Chaffey’s
curling shot.
The late goals will have disappointed Wellington, who had looked so secure in defence with Daniel Short outstanding,
Wellington: Ryan Lewis, Craig Mawford, Andy Robertson, Daniel Short, Jack Adams, Jon Crowford, Simon Ingram, Scott Holland, Craig Herrod, Shane Kingston, Darren Stone. Substitutes, Mark Thompson and Luke Desave (used), Aaron Deeks (not used).

Les Phillips Cup preliminary round: Wellington 3, Radstock 1 (after extra time).
TWO goals in extra time gave Wellington victory over premier division rivals Radstock at the Playing Field yesterday.
And that earned them a tie away to division one Clevedon United in the next round.
Radstock went into the game in the top three of the division but in a match packed with chances, only poor finishing prevented Wellington from following their 7-1 thrashing of Corsham with another convincing win.
Both sides created openings in the first half but it was Wellington who broke the deadlock after 43 minutes as Jon Crowford’s cross was missed by keeper Amin Jones and went in off Scott Holland, pushed up from defence to midfield for the game.
Wellington lost Andy Robertson to a hamstring injury at half time and he was replaced by Mark Thompson who has rejoined the club after making several appearances last season.
Robinson’s side continued to hold the upper hand but it was Radstock who got the all important equaliser with 15 minutes remaining as the ball was slipped through to Clinton Wilson, who calmly slipped it under keeper Ryan Lewis.
Wellington pressed for the winner with Shane Kingston – their five-goal hero at Corsham – coming closest with a shot, which hit the outside of the post.
The home side completely dominated extra-time and duly wrapped up a deserved victory with two more goals.
Thompson marked his return by scrambling a Simon Ingram corner over the line after 100 minutes.
And right at the death Craig Herrod capped an outstanding display on the left wing, by pouncing on some slack play to score with a rising drive into the far top corner of the net.

Les Phillips Cup preliminary round: Wellington 3, Radstock 1 (after extra time).
WELLINGTON boss Leigh Robinson has set his sights on following the title-winning 2007-08 season by winning the Les Phillips Cup.
And their extra-time victory over premier division rivals Radstock at the Playing Field yesterday saw them earn a tie away to division one Clevedon United in the next round.

Somerset Premier Cup: Yeovil Town 4, Wellington 0
TWO goals in each half consigned Wellington to a Somerset Premier Cup defeat at Huish Park on Tuesday night.
Leigh Robinson’s side were always up against it playing a Yeovil side consisting mainly of reserve and youth players with a sprinkling of trialists.
And their night was marred by the last-minute sending off of Scott Holland for a second yellow card, which means they will now lose the central defender to suspension.
Wellington struggled to contain the pace and movement of the young Yeovil team, particularly winger Jermiele Johnson, whose speed and trickery set up the first two goals after 13 and 26 minutes.
On each occasion, his pull-back was expertly dispatched by Andre McCollin, the one Yeovil player on show with first-team experience.
Wellington brought on Darren Stone and Craig Herrod at half-time and were in the game more after the break.
But Yeovil extended their lead through Ryan Hall’s low drive after 62 minutes.
And, after Holland’s late dismissal, they rubbed salt into Wellington’s wounds when the resulting free-kick was headed home by Adam Wakley.
Wellington: Ryan Lewis, Craig Mawford, Scott Holland, Andy Robertson, Daniel Short, Jon Crowford, Andy Butler, Simon Ingram, Jack Adams, Shane Kingston, Aaron Deeks. Substitutes, Darren Stone, Craig Herrod and Luke Desave (all used).

Toolstation League premier division: Wellington 0, Bishop Sutton 0
NEWLY-PROMOTED Wellington’s stop-start opening to their first campaign back in the premier division suffered another stutter as they were held by Bishop Sutton at the Playing Field yesterday.
It was a poor game and, although Wellington improved in the second half, they could not make that all-important breakthrough.
Chances were few and far between and when Aussie striker Darren Stone fired over from a good position in the opening minutes, few would have believed this would be one of the clearest openings of the match.
Wellington gave a patchy display and it was Stone, who went close next … but that was more than 40 minutes later as he curled a shot just wide.
Leigh Robinson’s side played with more intent after the interval and midfielder Andy Robertson should have done better after 55 minutes as he was set up by Craig Herrod but blasted over the bar.
His central midfield partner Andy Butler then took centre stage, seeing a header tipped over and then a shot deflected just wide while Stone brought a good save out of visiting keeper Chris Blammon.
But it was Bishop Sutton who nearly snatched the points seven minutes from time as the lively Rob Dumphy rounded keeper Ryan Lewis but Robertson got back to clear the danger.
