Shock win at Willand
STRUGGLING Wellington pulled off a shock win away to their third-placed neighbours Willand last night despite fielding four local youngsters drafted in from the reserves.
Willand took the game to the visitors from the kick-off and went ahead after 34 minutes as substitute James Ansell scored from close range.
Wellington scored a surprise equaliser in first-half stoppage time through Luke Perry’s header from a Craig Herrod cross.
Willand seemed to run out of ideas after the break and were made to pay after 78 minutes when Herrod was brought down in the box and skipper Simon Ingram converted the penalty.
The win again lifted Wellington off the foot of the table in their three-way fight with Welton Rovers and Longwell Green.
On Saturday, Colin Merrick’s side are away to Wells City.
