All set for a big night!
WELLINGTON Football Club are planning a triple celebration when they entertain League One side Yeovil Town for a special match at the Playing Field next Wednesday, October 28th.
Terry Skiverton has promised to bring a strong team after being contacted by his former Glovers team-mate Warren Patmore, who is now joint boss of Toolstation premier division Wellington.
The game, which kicks off at 7.45pm, will mark:
The switch-on of Wellington’s new £30,000 floodlights and completion of their major ground improvements project;
The presentation by Somerset FA of the Community Club Award – the highest recognition a club can achieve under the Charter Standard scheme;
The refurbishment of the clubhouse lounge as the latest phase in improving the social facilities.
“This night will mark the culmination of a remarkable couple of years for Wellington AFC – both on and off the pitch,” said chairman Ken Bird.
“We have improved the standard of football at which we play, the number of teams we run and the overall quality of our facilities.
“None of this would have been achieved without a huge amount of hard work by everyone involved in the club and also support from our various grant providers and sponsors.
“Next Wednesday will be a chance for us to say thank-you to all of them at the same time as enjoying some quality football – we hope as many people as possible will come along.”
Admission to the game is £5 for adults and £3.50 for OAPs/children.
There are also reduced price tickets on sale in advance – £15 for families of four and £25 for groups of six adults. These can be bought by ringing 07841-330543 or 07967-339625.
