Wellington 2nd XI could not emulate the 1st XI’s Somerset Cricket Board Knockout Cup success from the previous evening when the current West Somerset League Champions at both League and Cup level Holford left Courtland Road with the honours in this Minor Cup match that had been put back twice in the last week due to the poor weather. Wellington 2nd XI are sixth in Division Five of the Somerset League after their visit to Wells based side Horrington was abadoned as a draw after 15.5 overs of the home side’s reply when a storm washed proceedings away to leave the Red and Blacks second string with 18 points to the home side’s 23. Taunton Deane 2nd XI 148-5 Wellington 149-4

Wellington are up to third in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier League after the Club’s Groundstaff pulled out all of the stops to get the game on against a backdrop of rain and lots of it in the run up to the game between two of the three sides who were promoted from the Somerset League in 2018.
