Sidmouth 2nd XI 169 Wellington 164-8

Wellington completed their pre-season matches for 2019 with a trip to the seaside to take on Sidmouth 2nd XI last Sunday and came away with a narrow five run loss after a spirited effort to chase down 170 to win just came up short. Taking on a side who plays its league cricket in the middle echelons of the Devon League it was they who won the toss and opted to bat first and Wellington reduced them to 25-5 as

Lympsham and Belvedere 209 Wellington 211-5

Wellington got their opening win for 2019 on Easter Sunday in more glorious weather as a five wicket win at Somerset League Division Three club Lympsham and Belvedere, near Weston Super Mare, was obtained. The home side posted 90 for the first wicket as M.Hosey hit a fine 52 and Crockett a decent 37 before Sam Whitefield made the initial breakthroughs. L and B continued to motor and got to 191-5 with Neate’s 40 and B.Hosey’s 34 adding good runs

Wellington 137-6 Bradninch 140-3

Wellington continued their pre-season matches for 2019 with a trip to Devon League Division A side Bradninch on Easter Saturday as the warm weather saw both sides play in the sort of weather that they wish to see be the case as the season commences proper in the coming weeks. Arron Campbell opted to bat first on winning the toss and it was tough going against a disciplined and controlled home attack who reduced the Red and Blacks to 66-6

Yeovil 216-4 Wellington 178-7

Wellington can be very pleased with their all round performance at Yeovil last Sunday as they took on a strong home team and ended up just 38 runs short all told in this pre-season match against a side that the Red and Blacks First Team will host next month in their opening home game of 2019’s WEPL Somerset Division campaign. Wellington 193-9 North Curry 193-8

A pre-season Wellington CC team travelled to North Curry CC, who will play in Divisions One and Three of the West Somerset League in 2019, and tied the opening game of the new season when Curry’s O.Gunstone was run out off the last ball of the game attempting the run that would have won the game for the home side. Choosing to bat first Trevor Brooks with 10 was the main mover in getting Wellington to 29-3 before Arron Campbell
