Lympsham and Belvedere 209 Wellington 211-5

Wellington got their opening win for 2019 on Easter Sunday in more glorious weather as a five wicket win at Somerset League Division Three club Lympsham and Belvedere, near Weston Super Mare, was obtained.

The home side posted 90 for the first wicket as M.Hosey hit a fine 52 and Crockett a decent 37 before Sam Whitefield made the initial breakthroughs.

L and B continued to motor and got to 191-5 with Neate’s 40 and B.Hosey’s 34 adding good runs to their team total, but it was here that Will Weatherill, another new player, and Alex Troake spun the home side out for 209 with over five overs to spare.

Weatherill took 4-52 and Troake 3-20 as Wellington rallied well and would need 210 to win after tea.

A wicket was lost at six, but Nathan Roberts and Oli Beale got the Wellington score into the fifties before Roberts was out for a well made 20.

Beale hit a crisp 54 and hit some very pleasant shots in this knock and Wellington were approached the three figure mark at a score of 98.

Arron Campbell with 50no played a fine knock that ensured that Wellington were in a position to win as Will Weatherill completed a fine debut game with a knock of 38 and Rob Moysey’s 25no helped to win the game with 6.2 overs to spare.
