Wellington 137-6 Bradninch 140-3

Wellington continued their pre-season matches for 2019 with a trip to Devon League Division A side Bradninch on Easter Saturday as the warm weather saw both sides play in the sort of weather that they wish to see be the case as the season commences proper in the coming weeks.

Arron Campbell opted to bat first on winning the toss and it was tough going against a disciplined and controlled home attack who reduced the Red and Blacks to 66-6 all told as Neil Hendy with 14 and Sam Whitefield with 16 were the main contributors.

New signing Gus Steele with 23no and Rob Moysey with 38no added a robust unbroken partnership of 71 for the seventh wicket to give Wellington something to bowl at.

For the hosts C.Acton with 3-8 in four overs was in good form with the ball.

Luke Desave and Will Derrick took the new ball for Wellington and took a wicket each as the Bradninch openers were both dismissed by the time that the score had reached 22, but 30 from Horn, 45no from Ashplant and 22no from Burns saw Bradninch over the line as Callum Hendy’s stumping of Horn off of Arron Campbell was the only success to come after the new ball pairing had struck.
