Wellington Sunday XI 214 Bridgwater Sunday XI 217-6

Wellington Sunday XI completed theirs and the Club’s 2019 outdoor season with this Taunton and District Sunday League Division A match at WEPL Premier One Club Bridgwater last Saturday afternoon.

On winning the toss on the host Club’s second ground where the match was played due to the main venue hosting a charity match Wellington batted and lost a wicket at 10.

From this point Aks Latifi and Oli Beale took the score past 50 before Beale was LBW for 19.

Latifi was joined by Jack Beal and they were both soon cracking the ball around the park with vigour as Beal hit nine scoring shots in making 41 with four fours, four sixes and a single.

Latifi made a crisp 37 and at 115-2 in 15 overs the Red and Blacks were in good form, but the loss of both players at this score was telling in the end.

Arron Campbell with 39 and skipper Macaulay Campbell with 17 each made good middle order runs and a final total of 214 was posted after Alex Derbridge with 16 and Tom Shannon with 10 had made some useful late order contributions.

For Bridgwater Redman with 3-29 was their most successful bowler figures wise.

Coombs and T.Hill had 28 on the board for the home side before Macaulay Campbell trapped the latter LBW.

J.Hill joined the action and this second wicket stand propelled Bridgwater to their eventual victory as 94 were added for the second wicket.

The former Hill made 50 and the latter 37, but both were out within a run of each other as Arron Campbell (3-42 overall) and Aks Latifi (2-59 overall) struck.

The home side overcame matters in the end with Court’s 30no seeing them over the line and to 30 points to Wellington’s 18.
