Wellington Sunday XI 285-7 Taunton St Andrews Sunday XI 286-8

Despite a fine hundred from Aks Latifi and a great all round show from Jack Beal Wellington Sunday XI lost this Taunton and District Sunday League Division A match with one ball left as WEPL Premier One club Taunton St Andrews chased down the 286 they required to win.

Wellington were put into bat and saw Ben Evett and Aks Latifi add 45 opening wicket runs with Evett making a good 28.

At 60-2 Latifi was joined by Jack Beal and they added a marvellous 126 third wicket runs with Beal’s clean hitting realising 78 with six sixes as he took on the TSA bowling and won; he was caught going for a seventh maximum.

Latifi hit five sixes in his excellent 113 and he boosted the Wellington score with Rob Moysey’s 33no seeing the Red and Blacks totalled 285-7 at tea as Batstone with 2-15 in the mid-innings period was the most successful TSA bowler.

Dourado had the response to the massive Wellington total as he cracked 170 alone, only been dismissed in the last over of the game as he played a stellar knock.

Wellington did get TSA to 157-5, but a stand of 126 for the sixth wicket between Dourado and Wolfenden took the score to 283-5 and the game was seemingly done or was it?

Ben Evett reprised his leg spinners and bowled Wolfenden for 46 in the 38th over and Jack Beal, who ended up with 3-17, removed Dourado and J.Sanders in the 39th over to see that with two balls to go the scores were tied, but M.Sanders dabbed the ball down with the field tightly set and got the run that took TSA home in a game that saw very nearly 600 runs scored in 79.5 overs.

Wellington are fourth with the same number to play as the table below shows…
