Wellington Sunday XI 266-3 Bagborough Sunday XI 144
Wellington Sunday XI got their first Taunton and District Sunday League Division A win of the season when they travelled to West Somerset League club Bagborough last weekend and came away with a handsome 122 run success in the sun.
Macaulay Campbell won the toss and batted first and saw his vice captain Oli Beale and Nathan Roberts add a cool 118 runs for the opening wicket as Roberts made 44.
Beale was joined by Arron Campbell and they took the score to 143 before Beale was out for a capital 69.
Ben Evett joined Campbell and both played very well indeed to add 117 for the third wicket as Evett played some audacious shots on his way to 41.
Campbell cracked four sixes in making a crisp 70no and it was he and Jack Beal who was at the crease at the end of the Wellington innings having totalled 266-3 in 40 overs.
Mortimore with 1-23 in seven overs was Bagborough’s best offering with the ball.
Will Derrick captured the wicket of Glanville in the first over of the Bagborough reply, but Swinburne with 45 played some lofty shots and showed intent as the home side’s score rose to 62-1 in nine overs, but Rob Moysey’s introduction to the attack had a profound effect on matters as he took 5-30 in seven overs all told as his leg spin did the trick for Wellington.
Alex Derbridge’s off spin collected 3-17 and there was a wicket for Nathan Roberts too as Wellington collected a good win in good cricketing weather…
