Toolstation League premier division: Brislington 2, Wellington 1.
WELLINGTON started their new premier campaign with an odd-goal defeat in Bristol on Saturday.
Fielding a squad with no fewer than eight new signings, they gave a spirited display which deserved a point from an evenly-contested game.
Brislington went ahead after 20 minutes as Danny Guiabarra converted a low cross.
But Wellington got back on level terms two minutes later when Craig Mawford’s free kick reached Joe Dakwa at the far post to volley home.
The turning point of the game came with 20 minutes remaining as Wellington’s Craig Herrod went down under a heavy challenge and was eventually stretchered off with a shoulder injury.
The long hold-up seemed to knock Wellington out of their stride and Brislington scored what proved to be the winner through Jason Llama’s towering header.
Wellington have another league game tomorrow (Tuesday) when they are away to Ilfracombe.

STRIKER Luke Desave struck four times as Toolstation premier side Wellington won 6-2 away to first division Elmore in their penultimate pre-season friendly yesterday.
Wellington, fielding a host of new signings, displayed some clinical finishing in a useful warm-up to the new season, which kicks off on Saturday.
They went ahead after 15 minutes with a low drive by Alex Pounde, who has rejoined the club, and increased their lead three minutes later with a Jack Adams penalty after a foul on Mark Thompson, also back with Wellington.
Elmore pulled a goal back after 28 minutes through Sam Kemp but then it was Desave who took centre stage.
He put Wellington 3-1 ahead on the stroke of half-time and added three more goals after the break, the best of them a sublime lob after 77 minutes. Elmore managed a late consolation goal through Jessie Howe.
Wellington complete their friendlies with a match away to Taunton Blackbrook at Wordsworth Drive on Wednesday (7.30).

Dave Thomas and David Derrick will be asking players to sign Devon and Exeter Football League signing on forms from now (some already have).
The process will see three items of paperwork been required to be signed off – the League’s signing on form, a WAFC membership form and the WAFC Code of Conduct for senior players.
By the first game of the season (likely to be Saturday 28th August) all who wish to play for the side this season will be expected to have completed all these forms in full and to have paid the appropriate membership fee – details from Dave Thomas or David Derrick.
A strict line will be enforced in this respect in the 2010-2011 season and all players are asked to help this process by complying with these requirements – in other words help us to help you!
The Western League signing on process will be dealt with by Club Secretary Ken Pearson and this will involve the Reserves squad for sure.

It is hoped up to six sides will be taking part – details to follow on this site.
