WELLINGTON completed a miserable week with defeat at home to lowly Bradford Town at the Playing Field on Saturday, February 10.
The result came on the back of the shock 2-0 midweek reverse to bottom club Weston St Johns as their club record 12-game unbeaten run became a distant memory.
Wellington went into the Bradford game missing four key players through either injury or suspension but still did enough to suggest they were going to get back to winning ways as they controlled the first half.
They outplayed the visitors for most of the half, taking the lead with a goal of stunning simplicity midway through the half.
Simon Ingram floated a free-kick into the area and Shaun Anthony knocked the ball across goal for skipper Nick Woon to calmly finish for his 19th goal of yet another prolific season.
But Bradford threatened briefly before the break with striker Steve Roddy being denied by keeper Shaun Locke – a sign of things to come.
After the interval it was a different story as Wellington failed to mount a single serious effort on the visiting goal – one long-range shot by Woon was comfortably dealt with by keeper Stuart Powell.
At the other end, Bradford equalised seven minutes after the restart when they were awarded a free-kick 25 yards out and Roddy curled the ball up and over the wall and in off the post.
Wellington huffed and puffed in an effort to regain their lead but it was the visitors, who scored the all important goal with 19 minutes remaining.
Wellington gave away possession and the ball was played forward quickly with sub Mark Robinson sending Roddy racing clear to round Locke and score what proved to be the winner.
Man-of-the-match Roddy proved a handful all afternoon and Locke produced three more saves to deny him a deserved hat-trick.
