Home defeat by Larkhall

Toolstation League premier division: Wellington 0, Larkhall Athletic 1.

WELLINGTON went down to a disappointing defeat by Larkhall Athletic at the Playing Field yesterday.

The visitors from Bath created all the openings of the scrappy first half with Johnny Davoile shooting straight at keeper Steve Johns and both Ross Lye and Lee Bowen firing just over.

But they made the breakthrough six minutes after the break with what was to prove to be the winning goal.

Ricky Scott fired in a low drive, which Johns could only parry out to Bowen, who scored at the second attempt despite a valiant effort by the keeper.

Wellington left it late to create their only efforts on goal and both of them could have snatched a point.

With eight minutes remaining, Greg Jackson found Scott Holland in the box but the skipper’s first-time shot was blocked by keeper Owen Dunn and, shortly afterwards, Levi Marlow headed over from a great position.
