Willand do the double

Toolstation League Premier Division: Wellington 0, Willand Rovers 2

WELLINGTON conceded the double to their high-riding neighbours from Willand at the Playing Field on Easter Monday.
Willand, who are managed by former Wellington player Clive Jones, are having an excellent season and are still in with an outside chance of pipping Bideford for the title. They were on top for most of the game against a Wellington side missing a string of key players through injury.
The visitors almost went ahead in the second minute as Joel Hawes raced clear but was denied by keeper Will Radford.
But they did take the lead two minutes later when Russell Jee sent over a cross from the left and Dean Stamp turned the ball into the net off the underside of the bar. To their credit, Wellington refused to lie down but Willand increased their lead on the half-hour as a corner was headed across goal by Stamp and nodded home by Ben Mammola.
Wellington felt they should have got back into the game just before half-time but were denied a penalty after Scott Holland had been sent flying in the box.
Willand bossed the second half and Radford did well to deny Danny Jee before a free-kick from Wellington old boy Paul Pocock was deflected on to the bar.
Wellington: Will Radford, Greg Jackson, Adam Fricker, Ricky Davey, Jack Adams, Levi Marlow, David Thorne, John Bradford, Dan Thompson, Scott Holland, Shane Kingston. Subs: Neil Vogwill, Jon Stanyard and Oli Nott (all used). Att: 90.

WELLINGTON’S league match at Ilfracombe on Good Friday was called off because of a waterlogged pitch and has been rearranged for Thursday, April 22.
