Bagborough Sunday XI 121 Wellington Sunday XI 122-8

Wellington Sunday XI recorded a fourth Taunton and District Sunday League win last weekend as they got past West Somerset League side Bagborough by two wickets in a 28 over per side game that saw some rain interruptions limit the overs available.

Bagborough batted first and saw Tom Shannon take a wicket in his first over as B.Jones was bowled for a duck.

Visiting skipper McKee with 60 and keeper Swinburne with 32 took Bagborough to 98-3 before Sam Whitefield (3-27) took a good low caught and bowled effort to remove the latter player and from then on the visitors collapsed with Rob Moysey and Ben Evett collecting two wickets each.

Wellington needed 122 to win and were 15-2 before Sam Whitefield and Oli Beale added 43 for the third wicket.

Whitefield made a fourth half century in four games with exactly 50 and when he was batting with Arron Campbell (35) Wellington were on course, but there was a story to come as three wickets were lost with the score at 110, so 110-4 became 110-7 and still 12 were needed.

Rob Moysey with a four calmed the nerves and in the end Jake Nichol and Connor Wickenden got the game done and it was a two wicket home win and 26 points to Wellington who have two games to play in this competition this season – at home to Wembdon on Monday evening and away to Bridgwater on Saturday 7th September.
