Taunton St Andrews 4th XI 80-3 v Wellington 2nd XI

Wellington 2nd XI have dropped to second in Division Six South of the Somerset League through a combination of thunder, lightening and torrential rain rendering their game with Taunton St Andrews 4th XI at Bishop Fox’s School as a draw last weekend as Alex Troake’s team took 15 points to be the same number behind Lydford who won at Long Sutton 2nd XI as they batted at a crazy rate to beat the advancing weather and did what they needed to do to get to top spot at this time; the meeting of the two sides at Wellington on Saturday 24th July is set to be a cracker.

As for this game Alex Troake won the toss and asked TSA’s fourth string to bat first with the weather sweeping in all the time and some resolute batting from Barclay and Rew saw the home side add 72 opening wicket runs as they made 31 and 30 respectively.

The stand was broken by Tom Shannon who saw Alex Dixon hold on to a good chance and it was soon 79-3 as Alex Troake took 6-1-13-2, but with the addition of only one more run the game was washed away and with it the chance of a positive result.
