Lydford 60 Wellington 2nd XI 61-2
Wellington 2nd XI went to the top of Division Six South of the Somerset League with this comprehensive and well merited win over Lydford last weekend as Alex Troake’s team collected a full 35 points for their efforts.
As at home a good toss was won by Wellington and they asked Lydford to bat first and they had been rushed out in just 20 overs all told.
Tom Shannon started the wicket taking for Wellington’s second string and Richard Henwood’s excellent caught and bowled effort set the standard.
Ian Hewson removed both of the two players for Lydford who got into double figures as Davis (12) and Bunter (14) were his victims on his way to 8-1-28-2
With Henwood collecting 6-2-10-3 and skipper Troake 2-0-4-3 the Lydford innings was all done and dusted with half of the overs still left.
Although Wellington did find themselves at 2-1 Andy Hurry with 37no and James Brackenbury with 11no made short work of the chase and it was over in 16.4 overs.
