Wellington Reds 1 9 Old Inn 98

Wellington Reds, Wellington Cricket Club’s winter sporting section, will have better days in Division Three of the Taunton and District Saturday League than they did last Saturday at Wellington Playing Field Pitch Two when in form side Old Inn, from Bishops Hull in Taunton, put nine goals past the Reds for just one in reply.

The early exchanges saw Reds skipper Aaron Sellick have to retire with a thigh injury to be replaced by Tyler Fyfe and then Rob Moysey experienced back trouble and was replaced by Luke Maunder.

Two goals were scored in close succession by the visitors and they doubled this by the time the mid game break had come.

Ashley Grist got one back for the Reds, but it was not the start of a comeback as Old Inn added five more before the end of the game to leave Reds in tenth place in the thirteen team division and a with a trip to play Exmoor Rangers on Saturday 19th December from 2.00pm who they have beaten twice already this season – on the opening day of the Reds season back in September and in a Seward Cup First Round game on penalties a week later – a third success would be useful in what will be the Reds last game before Christmas.
