Bridgwater Grasshoppers 1 6 Wellington Reds
Wellington Reds, Wellington Cricket Club’s football section, were quick out of the blocks when they took on Second Division side Bridgwater Grasshoppers in the Taunton and District Saturday Football League’s Rowbarton Charity Cup Second Round at Castle School in Taunton last Friday evening (4th December) as they slammed six goals for only one in reply after five weeks off due to lockdown 2.0
The Reds were in another sphere compared to their opposition, who play one level above them, to lead 4-0 at the break and with hitting the frame of the goal twice could have been even further ahead.
Goals from Joe Conway Jnr, Ashley Grist, Ben Evett, who put in a worldy of a performance and Will Derrick gave the Reds a winning majority at the interval.
Grasshoppers pulled one back from the spot when their goal keeper scored, but the Reds were not done with their scoring activity as Nial Sellick and Tobi Jenkins made it six of the best and set up a Third Round tie with Norton Fitzwarren Firsts who, like these opponents, play in Division Two.
Old Inn 98 FC visit Wellington Playing Field on Saturday 12th December for a Division Three match which kicks off at 2.00pm and will be Connor Sellick’s side’s second home league engagement, some three months after the first.
