Galmington Reserves 3 2 Wellington Reds
Wellington Reds lost out for the first time in the Taunton and District Saturday League’s Division Three last time out when they took on Galmington Reserves at Castle School’s 3G facility and lost by the odd goal in five.
The Reds were one nil down when the ball was sent to one of the home attackers following a poor clearance and it could have been worse for Connor Sellick’s team as a penalty was conceded, but Sam Wooster, back with the Club for both winter and summer activity from now, made a good save.
Dan Woodgate, who had come on as a replacement for Rob Moysey, equalised for the Reds with a neat back heel over the goal line after good work from Tobi Jenkins.
Galmington took the lead again, but a scorching equaliser from Scott Newberry whistled into the top corner and with it the half time score was 2-2.
Wellington Reds pressed in the second half, but Dan Egerton’s hat trick for the home side settled it in their favour.
Reds are away to Fivehead Rovers Athletic on Saturday 24th October in a re-scheduled league game having had the original game called off due to a waterlogged pitch at the start of the month…
Also of interest to the Reds is that Norton Fitzwarren Firsts and Bridgwater and Albion Firsts meet in the last First Round game of the Seward Cup (for Division Two and Three sides only) this evening (Friday 23rd October at Castle School’s 3G facility) and the winner will play Reds in the Second Round.
The Second Round game for Reds is the last one of that round too and is likely to be played at Castle School’s 3G facility on Friday 30th October the thinking is thus opening up scope to set the Quarter Finals.
