Wellington Sunday XI 233-8 Morebath Sunday XI 98

Wellington Sunday XI made a visit to West Somerset League Division Two club Morebath last weekend and came away with a 135 run win over their hosts.

Morebath asked Wellington to bat when they won the toss and had an early success as the Red and Blacks were 15-1, but this saw Oli Beale and Ben Evett add 120 for the second wicket as both played a couple of energetic knocks.

Beale made 52 with two sixes as he played to leg well and all the time Evett was going through the gears to post a debut hundred for Wellington that saw him lift the ball out of the ground four times.

Ollie Hunt with 21, Des Campbell with 23 (two sixes) and the lower order pushed Wellington forward to 233-8 at the end of their 40 overs as Morebath did rally with the ball as Timmis took 3-26.

A decent opening stand of 28 between Blake and Dobson saw Morebath start well, but when he was caught in the slips by Ben Evett the game was going to go towards Wellington as Arron Campbell took 4-22 in six overs with Tyler Fyfe claiming one wicket.

With Oli Beale and Evett once again late on claiming catches Wellington were running through the Morebath line up with Ollie Hunt taking 2-5 in five good overs, Connor Wickenden 1-25 in six overs as his left arm spin continues to prosper in 2020 and the game was ended with Alex Derbridge and Will Derrick in possession of the ball with some ten overs going unused by Morebath as Timmis continued his good game with a knock of 18.

The side’s next game is at Bishops Lydeard on Sunday 30th August when they travel to play Wombat CC in another non-league game which will commence at 1.30pm.
