Wellington 3rd XI 133-6 Long Sutton 2nd XI 134-2
Wellington 3rd XI has ended in ninth position in Division Seven South of the Somerset League this season after tasting defeat at third placed Long Sutton 2nd XI last weekend.
On been asked to bat first David Derrick and Ollie Hunt took up opening the innings and added 20 runs either side of a rain break that cost the home side six overs in line with the SCL’s rules on rain.
Hunt played well on the leg side and had hit 10 before he was caught behind.
Derrick hit 13 before been bowled going for a big shot.
Andy Hurry and Jacob Hurry added 37 third wicket runs in good style before Hurry Snr was bowled for 26.
Hurry Jnr made it to an eventual 22 as he played well.
Another father/son combination saw out the Wellington third string innings as Richard Henwood with 39no added 24 sixth wicket runs with Ryan Henwood who was run out on the last ball of an innings that saw Miller with 2-22 in eight overs be Sutton’s best bowler numbers wise.
Vigar and Edwards added 71 opening wicket runs for Sutton and this saw them well on the road to victory as the former player made 19 before been well caught by James Drohan off of Connor Wickenden.
Richard Henwood bowled Edwards for 71, but the eleven runs needed for victory when he was out were secured and with 10.5 overs left.
