Wellington 3rd XI are ninth in Division Seven South of the Somerset League after losing to second placed Ilminster 3rd XI last time out.

Having to bat first once more on losing the toss saw Simon Burrough and Richard Henwood add 64 runs first up with Burrough making 17 before been one of five victims for visiting skipper Rice who took 5-24 in eight good overs of off spin.

At 78-4 consolidation was needed and it came from Henwood and debutant Callum Kinnear who added a fine 43 for the fifth wicket with Kinnear making a fine 21.

Henwood was eventually out for 70 having played well and it was father and son pairing Rob and Ollie Hunt who added 25 for the Red and Blacks third string’s seventh wicket with Rob been out for 17 on the last ball of the innings.

Callum Kinnear made a good debut with the ball too and removed Ilminster opener Horne with the score on ten, but Ilminster showed their worth from there on in as Welch with 54, Blitz with 45no and Langridge with 32no saw their side home.

Wellington’s other wicket came the way of Max Brodie as Ryan Henwood held on to what came his way.
