Leigh-on-Mendip 135 Wellington 2nd XI 78
Having done good work with ball on winning the toss in this Somerset League Division Five match Wellington 2nd XI were in a good state in their run chase at 61-2, but the bottom fell out of it as they lost eight wickets for just 17 runs to be all out in 33 overs in their home match with Leigh-on-Mendip last weekend that leaves them in eighth position.
Leigh were bowled out in forty overs as Brownlow with 37 was tops for the far flung visitors and B.Gould with 28 helped too.
Neil Hendy with 4-8 in six overs was metronomic and with wickets for each of Gus Steele, Tom Perry, Nathan Roberts, Thom Trott and Alex Troake Wellington’s second string had a good chance to record the season’s double over Leigh.
Nathan Roberts and Ryan Adams got Wellington away to a decent start with a 23 run opening stand that was ended when Adams was out for 10.
Thom Trott made 11 and with Nathan Roberts playing another solid hand of 23 the half way point in the run chase was been reached, but from 61-2 things then folded in for the home side as B.Gould with 3-13 in nine overs and S.Gould with 3-11 in seven overs did the trick for Leigh.
