Taunton Vale U11 216-11 Wellington U11 Reds 332-8
Wellington U11 Reds finished their season in style as they ran out worthy winners by a massive 116 runs at Gypsy Lane on Sunday Morning and are still in with a chance of finishing runners up.
Taunton Vale couldn’t get to grips with the bowling as Atticus Adams, Oscar Milton and William Lyon-Taylor, all took wickets with their 1st over as did Jonah Richardson as they limped to 234 – 4 at the halfway point.
With their tails up Wellington tore in to the opposition as a further wicket for Milton and another for Charlie Young put the visitors well on top before Adams and Charlie Crossley had further success, and both finished with identical figures of 2 – 7 off their 3 overs as an insufficient 216 was left to chase.
Young and Richardson batted first and had already reached 233 before Charlie Crossley and Lyon-Taylor added a further 20 runs.
Milton and Thomas Knell then added similar runs as did Adams and ‘keeper Liam Buddin who had another fine game behind the stumps.
Will Crossley and Thomas Gendall went out as the final pair and added a further 43 runs to reach a seasons best of 332 at the close.
The Reds are guaranteed 3rd place, but await the result of the 2nd vs 4th game where a victory for Ilminster, at Taunton Deane, will hand the runners up spot to Wellington which following promotion only 12 months ago would be a monumental achievement.
