Despite this Somerset League Division Seven South game ending in defeat for Wellington 3rd XI and seeing that they are ninth they are just 24 points off fifth at the same time.
Wellington were put into bat on a green wicket and this saw David Derrick and Des Campbell add 27 opening wicket runs.
Skipper Campbell made it through to 22 and at 48-2 Wellington saw Richard Henwood and Jacob Hurry add a bright third wicket stand of 66 with Henwood making an eventual 37 and Hurry a fine 31.
Andy Hurry with 17 and Jake Nichol with 11 added good late runs and Ollie Hunt and Connor Wickenden added the runs that saw that Wellington’s third string collected an eighth batting bonus point in the last over.
R.James and Callow added 35 first wicket runs for Crewkerne despite both Jake Nichol and Ollie Hunt bowling a couple of testing opening spells for Wellington.
Andy Hurry got the initial breakthrough and was joined by Ryan Henwood, Richard Henwood and Alex Derbridge in taking the wickets that saw Crewkerne were 100-6, but a powerful innings of 82no from Cossins was the difference between the sides as he took his side home by four wickets to give Wellington 14 points for their efforts.
