Wellington 267-6 Yeovil 117
A superlative performance last time out has taken Wellington to sixth in the West of England Premier League’s Somerset Division when they took on third placed Yeovil on the road last weekend and the Red and Blacks recorded a massive 150 run and took 22 points with them too.
Skipper Arron Campbell’s majestic knock of 104no made in 85 balls with 11 fours and three sixes was the cornerstone of the massive score that was posted after the toss had been won and a choice to bat first had been made.
Tom Chambers and Neil Hendy posted a 56 run opening stand to set Wellington on their way with Hendy making 23.
Chambers made it to exactly 50 and at 85-2 a good start had been made and it was primed to be taken to the next level and it certainly was as Sam Whitefield and Arron Campbell added 138 for the third wicket in a totally dominant fashion to which Yeovil had no reply.
Whitefield cracked 61 in 86 balls with three sixes and played a full role in the proceedings that were going totally in Wellington’s favour.
Campbell played a cool hand on a warm day and he was rewarded with a marvellous unbeaten ton as his side hit a massive score…
For Yeovil Ford with 3-57 in ten overs and Mitchell with 2-20 in ten overs were the only successful bowlers on the day.
Wellington’s attack laid into the Yeovil top order after tea as Luke Desave and Will Derrick delivered twenty overs between them unbroken and sent Yeovil crashing to 26-6 as they took 2-27 and 4-42 respectively.
Veale with 43 and Dyer with 27 made some good middle order runs for Yeovil, but the game was up and it was ended by Jack Beal (2-9) and Thom Trott (2-21) as the home side were rushed out with 18.1 overs going unused.
