Wellington U11 Blacks took the short ride to Ashbrittle on Sunday morning, but came away empty handed, despite 3 wickets for Nerys Jones.

Ben Briddon and Harley Wingett went out to bat first and 3 fine boundaries from Briddon took the score to 216 before Nerys Jones and William Box took to the crease.

The runs dried up until Lia Bellatin and Alex Acton upped the pace taking the total to 232 with 4 overs remaining.

Skipper Robin Hill was last in partnered by Henry Allder and 1 further wicket pegged the score to 243 at the turnaround.

Reuben and Alex for Ashbrittle opened the batting to good effect adding 4 boundaries as they added 35 runs in quick time before Jones was brought in to the attack and 2 wickets in her 1st over stemmed the flow of runs as Wellington came back in to the game.

The visitors young side bowled well, but only 1 further wicket was to fall as Jones returned to the attack and the home side ran out worthy winners by a margin of 49 runs.
