Wellington 3rd XI 143 Broadway and Horton 2nd XI 113

Wellington 3rd XI collected a fine Somerset League Division Seven South win last time out as they beat current top side Broadway and Horton 2nd XI at Sampford Arundel CC.

The visitors asked the home side to bat first on winning the toss and Simon Burrough and David Derrick got away to a 16 run opening stand with Burrough making it to 20 and he was in good form.

At 40-4 consolidation was needed and to this end Darren Davis with 24 and Richard Henwood with an eventual 37 guided Wellington to 143 all out in 30.3 overs with Andy Groves (16) and Ryan Henwood (14) adding good runs too with Izzett’s 3-45 and Davies with 3-40, each delivering eight overs, seeing B and H take all the wickets on offer.

Wellington were at the divisional leaders soon after they took to the field of play as Tom Shannon and Richard Henwood reduced them to 14-3 with Shannon bowling with some real pace and Henwood been accurate to take 2-13 in 8 overs of seam.

Knight and Watkins reignited the B and H innings with knocks of 20 and 33, but Darren Davis with 1-22 in six overs, Andy Hurry with 3-20 in seven overs and Tom Shannon with 3-18 in six overs sealed the deal and a fourth win of the season for the side.
