Broadway and Horton U11 214 Wellington Under 11 Blacks 268
William Lyon-Taylor played a starring role as Wellington Blacks continued their improvement in form as they recorded a 54 run win when they travelled to Broadway and Horton on Sunday morning.
Oliver Hutchings had no hesitation in inserting the hosts on calling correctly and Lyon-Taylor was straight into the action with a wicket in his first over and when his next over was a double wicket maiden Wellington were right on the front foot.
Tight bowling and lively fielding kept the Broadway youngsters well in check and further wickets for Hutchings (1), Ben Briddon (1), Sebastian Fasham (1), William Box (1) and Mungo Fasham (2) and a final wicket for Lyon-Taylor to take his tally to 4 meant a modest 214 was posted.
Mungo Fasham and Box were first out to bat and it was the latter who set the tone for the innings with 5 firmly struck boundaries as they took the score to 221.
Keeper Liam Buddin was next in with Briddon and 4 more boundaries for the glove man took the total to 241 at the halfway point where Alex Acton and Seb Fasham came out to bat.
The home side then had a good spell with the ball to restrict the runs before Hutchings and Lyon-Taylor paired up to add 27 unanswered runs in 4 overs to take the final total to 268 and a 54 run victory.
