Wellington 2nd XI 162 Wedmore 152

Wellington 2nd XI recorded a fantastic win in Division Five of the Somerset League last weekend when they saw off Wedmore at home by just ten runs and are up to sixth as a result of the 33 points that were collected.

For the sixth game running the side batted first and saw Trevor Brooks and Rob Moysey add 25 runs first up, but both had been dismissed by the time that the score had increased by one run as B.Burgess was in the wickets for the visiting side.

Thom Trott’s 61 was a much value to the Red and Blacks second string as he was well supported by Ryan Adams with 30.

The tail got their side to an eighth batting points as the innings closed with 3.2 overs going unused as Harris with 5-24 did good work for Wedmore who are third in the the table.

Sam Wooster and Tyler Fyfe had both openers removed early before Evans with 64 powered his and his team’s way to a good position.

Patch with 38no was his partner in crime as Wellington did not capitalise on their early success, but a hat-trick from Rob Moysey did the trick on his way to cracking figures of 6-15 in 7.3 overs.

Two wickets for Indika Weerawarna helped too as Wellington took a second win of the season.
