Minehead U11 250 Wellington U11 Reds 228
Wellington U11 Reds took a trip to the seaside on Sunday morning, but came back empty handed as Minehead won a tight match by 22 runs.
The hosts batted first with rain in the air and found things tough as early as the second over where Jonah Richardson struck and when Charlie Crossley took a wicket in the next over,
Wellington looked to be on top and Oliver Hutchings added to the tally to leave Minehead on 215 with half their overs used, but after this the home side began to accumulate runs.
William Lyon-Taylor, Atticus Adams and Oscar Milton each took a wicket apiece in the closing half, but a County player, Harry, for the home side put bat to ball effectively, bringing the innings to a close on 250.
The same player took the new ball and struck twice in the first over as Will Crossley and George Davis found things tough as did Richardson and Hutchings who struck fine boundaries, but with regular wickets falling the score reached 203 with 8 overs left.
Charlie Crossley and Lyon-Taylor were the third pair and managed to add 10 runs, but the 37 required proved beyond Adams and Milton, who swung the bat well, but sadly in vain as they closed 28 runs shy.
