Brompton Ralph 121-6 Wellington 2nd XI 123-0
Wellington 2nd XI joined in the current success that the Club is enjoying at T20 level with this resounding ten wicket home win over West Somerset League side Brompton Ralph in the Somerset Cricket Board’s Minor KO Cup Second Round last Thursday evening.
Brompton won the toss and chose to bat first and despite losing a wicket with the score on 18 Will Ruell and George Ruell with 30 and 18 respectively got the visitors over the fifty mark despite Alex Troake’s good low catch off of Tyler Fyfe’s bowling.
Mark Salter’s sharp catch, also off of Fyfe’s bowling (2-21 in four overs), was a good effort.
Rob Moysey with 2-5 in four overs was in superb form with the ball as the Brompton run rate lagged at 91-6 in 17 overs, but Liam Priest with 31no added some late vigour to proceedings to see that Wellington would need 122 to win in 20 overs.
It was Rob Moysey with 51no and Callum Hendy with 48no that steered Wellington home in the grand manner with some deft shots and some big ones for boundaries too.
This was a fine stand and one that sets up a home game with another West Somerset League side in Holford in the next round with a date for the game to be set.
