Wellington Reds U11s 272-6 Staplegrove U11s 214-10

Wellington Reds U11s side continued where they left off last week with a fine 58 run victory when Staplegrove visited The Playing Field on Sunday morning.

Opting to bat first Will Crossley was first in on the act stroking 2 fine boundaries and partnering Oscar Milton they saw the score to 217 at the end of the 4th over.

Oliver Hutchings and Jonah Richardson found things a little tougher as the ‘Grove bowlers came back in to it with 3 wickets, but by the halfway point 222 was on the board.

Charlie Crossley and George Davis added momentum adding 23 runs in their 4 overs which left the county pair of ‘skipper Atticus Adams and Thomas Gendall who ran well between the wickets to post an intimidating 272 at the turnaround.

These two then took the new ball, with Gendall striking straight away and from then on the visitors could never get up with the run rate.

All 7 bowlers bowled extremely well, as 10 wickets were shared between Gendall (2), Charlie and Will Crossley 2 apiece,

Davis 1 and particularly Hutchings with his left arm chinaman bamboozling the batsmen leaving Staplegrove 58 runs shy at the death.

The team will head off to the coast next weekend with their tails high as Minehead is the destination.
