Wellington Reds U11 248-7 Taunton Rubies U11 205-10
Wellington Reds U11 got their 1st taste of victory this season with a 43 run victory at The Playing Field on Sunday morning as Taunton Rubies were the visitors.
The visitors offered Wellington 1st use, so Jonah Richardson and Oliver Hutchings opened up striking 3 boundaries between them, but tight bowling kept the runs in check as 3 wickets fell.
Charlie Crossley and William Lyon-Taylor were next in and worked the ball around nicely to take the total to 230 at the half way stage.
Oscar Milton and George Davis were the 3rd pair in and pushed the score on nicely to leave skipper Tom Knell and Will Crossley, who top scored with 15, to finish the innings on 248 -7.
Wellington bowled a good line and length and always kept the visitors behind the run rate, which meant ‘Vale’ had to go chasing runs, which meant the inevitable fall of wickets.
Charlie Crossley was probably the pick of the bowlers as he returned figures of 2-8 from his 3 overs, although Richardson and Davis also picked up 2 wickets and there was 1 apiece for Milton, Lyon-Taylor and Hutchings.
A 43 run victory, was no more than the boys deserved and they will relish another home game next Sunday when Staplegrove will be the visitors.
