Over Stowey U11 278-3 Wellington Blacks U11 221-7
Wellington’s development U11 team travelled to Over Stowey for a Under 11 west Division ‘B’ fixture on Sunday morning in the Taunton and District Youth League.
With around 10 players from the 2 teams experiencing hard ball matches for the first time the future of the game looks rosy for both clubs.
Stowey opted to bat first in bright sunshine and soon took the attack to Wellington as their best players batted together to strike 6 early boundaries.
Wellington held sway for much of the rest of the innings with Harley Wingett taking 2 wickets including a superb skied caught and bowled and Seb Fasham, in his 1st game, bowling 3 tidy overs and taking 1-5.
The hosts accumulated runs at a steady rate and finished on 278 at the turn around.
Wingett and Fasham then opened the batting for the Blacks and found runs hard to come by, but had added 14 runs at the end of their 4 overs.
‘Skipper Robin Hill and Ben Bridden were next in and had doubled this tally without getting out at the halfway stage.
Oliver Heaton-Jones and Mungo Fasham took their turn at the crease and found Over Stowey accurate with the ball which left Alex Acton and Henry Allder to chase runs at the death and leave the visitors on 221 at the close.
This experience will stand the boys in good stead, as next week they go on their travels again to Bagborough.
